CHILD WATCH ATTENDANT

Position Description
Position Title: Child Watch Attendant
Community:  Member Services
Supervisor:  Human Resources Manager
FLSA Type:  Non-Exempt

  1. GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsible for the safety and well being of the Childwatch children from 6 weeks up to 8 years of age.  Acts as a liaison and advocate for YMCA Membership Development.

  1. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Current CPR (including Infant, Child and Adult).*

  2. Current First Aid.*

  3. YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training.*

  4. Bloodborne Pathogen Training*

  5. Knowledge and ability of performing basic child care skills.

  6. Experience supervising infants and children.

  7. Responsible and mature nature

*Within 30 days of employment or at first available training.

  1. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to uphold the mission of the YMCA.

  2. Ability to plan activities for the children to get involved with.

  3. Ability to ensure safety and enjoyment of those participating in activities.

  1. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

  1. Engages children in various activities including art, crafts, coloring and reading.

  2. Develops positive relationships with participants and their parents.

  3. Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.

  4. Conveys basic information bout YMCA programs and schedules and refers members to other staff as needed.

  5. Maintains a clean, safe and sanitary environment, including disinfecting all toys on a daily basis.

  6. Maintains records as required (i.e. sign in/out sheets, accident/incident reports).

  7. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

  8. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures completing incident and accident reports as necessary.

  9. Organizes and puts away toys and equipment as needed reporting damaged equipment to supervisor.
